Black Residue is a melted rubber seal from a caseback which was in the same container. Warm soapy water cleaned off 70% already and I believe if you have a good dial cleaner, the rest will come off without damaging the orignal finish. I can see numbers are still in tact under the black rubber. The last pictures are for reference showing the case back which cleaned up nicely and the rubber seal comes off completely as shown. Feedback will still remain veiwable to the public.
This lot comes to you AS-IS with no implied warranties or guarantees. This dial looks to be a N. Dial that was damaged during storage. I believe with the right dial cleaning solvent, it will clean up the rest of the way. It has some black spots as shown which are part of a rubber seal from a Zodiac Case Back that melted over the years as they were all stored in the same parts container. The case back cleaned up completely using a watch cleaning solvent. I have not used anything to try and clean this dial but I believe it will clean up 100% if you know what you're doing and have the right cleaners that will not harm the original finish.
