The fixed fluted bezel shows wear, plate loss and oxidation. The heavy duty all stainless steel case shows honest wear. Stamped between the lugs at 6 o'clock are the numbers H4236423. " The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERPROOF 10 ATMOSPHERES SWISS MADE AUTOMATIC" with "TECHNOS stamped in the center.
The crystal should be replaced as it shows crazing. While I normally show movement pics for the watches I put up for sale the case back on this one is torqued too tight for me to remove.
The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date is reached. After winding the original "T" stamped screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 37 hours. While the screwdown crown screws down as it should, it is temperamental. Although the date and time can be set, when winding the crown in the first position it simply wants to screw down. So what I did when I wound the crown was to turn it clockwise until it screwed down and then I turned it counterclockwise until it unscrewed before winding/screwing it down again.I repeated this exercise until the crown had been wound 39 full revolutions. It's not ideal but it works. Given this and considering that this watch is over 50 years old with an unknown service history, a complete overhaul is required.
This watch measures approximately 36 mm without the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fluted bezel, is approximately 9 mm.
Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 12 mm. While the movement runs strong and keeps accurate time this is a vintage watch with an unknown service history and a temperamental crown/stem.A complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
