Vintage Rene Rochard All SS Watch withDivers Case, AS 1862/63, Runs FOR PARTS/REPAIR

Although the AS 1862/63 automatic movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 37 hour power reserve period and the date wheel rolls over as it should the time can't be set. Although the crown winds buttery smooth and the crown/stem connection is solid when the crown is pulled out to set the time the stem doesn't want to engage the hands. Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.

This seldom seen vintage 1970's Rene Rochard, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a silver "SWISS MADE" signed dial that shows wear and the lume emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light. While the dial lume plots have aged to a warm buttermilk hue the lume on the hands have aged to a subtle pistachio hue. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs insignificant signs of oxidation. The crystal needs to be replaced.

The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "WINDERT WATCH CO" stamped AS 1862/63 automatic movement keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over automatically as it should. However, although the crown winds buttery smooth and the crown/stem connection is solid when the crown is pulled out to set the time the stem doesn't want to engage the hands. After recently winding the non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 37 power reserve period. Given the crown issue and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 37 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs.

Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 6 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 7.5 mm. This watch comes on a "CHINA" and "STAINLESS STEEL" stretch bracelet that is too big on my approximate 6.5 inch wrist. I'd guesstimate that it'll comfortably accommodate a 7 inch wrist. A complete overhaul is required.

As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
