FOR PARTS/REPAIR - The Durowe 471-3 (INT) manual wind movement runs only when the time is being set and for up to several minutes thereafter. Additionally, when setting the day and time the crown turns stiffly.
Lastly, the bezel turns too easily. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required.
This seldom seen vintage 1970's Princeton'Day-Date' diver has under the damaged crystal a significantly aged/worn dial. The black countdown bezel, which shows wear and rotates directionally too easily, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "SHOCKPROTECTED ALL STAINLESS STEEL ANTIMAGNETIC" with "SWISS MADE" followed by "GUARANTEED 20 ATM" and "TESTED" stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped "TEMLEX TRADING" followed by SWISS.
The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted West Germany "STANDARD TIME CORP" stamped Durowe 471-3 (INT) manual wind movement runs only when the time is being set and for up to several minutes thereafter. While the day wheel rolls over at approximately 12am, albeit not in perfect alignment, the date wheel does not roll over nor does the crown wind as it's stuck in the time setting position.
This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 7.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 48 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
