Vintage Nivada Grenchen Depthmaster Compensamatic 100ATM Divers Watch FOR PARTS

For parts/restoration - this watch shows signs of water damage and the movement does not run. This uber rare vintage Nivada Grenchen Depthmaster de Luxe 100 ATM Compensamatic diver is has an emerald green dial that is in poor condition. The lume on the dial emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light while the lume on the hands no longer glows.

The black bakelite bezel, which is stuck and does not rotate likely due to gunk buildup and or corrosion, looks great. The massive and heavy all stainless steel case shows wear, some dents and dings and signs of corrosion. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "COMPENSAMATIC INCABLOC STAINLESS STEEL 67019 WATERPROOF 100 ATM AUTOMATIC" with "NIVADA" followed by "GRENCHEN" stamped in the center. Under the lip of the mid-case between the lugs at 6 o'clock are stamped with the numbers 010.

The crystal is in good condition. The movement does not run and I was unable to remove the case back. Considering the corrosion seen on the broken stem, tube and crown (which can be screwed on and off despite being broken), it's possible that water may have gotten into the movement. This may also explain why the case back cannot be removed. Given that this watch does not run and that it shows significant signs of corrosion, suggesting water damage, this watch will need to be used for parts or it will require a comprehensive restoration.

This watch measures approximately 41 mm excluding the crown, approximately 45 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 11.5 mm. Total thickness measures approximately 14 mm.

As mentioned above, given that this watch does not run and shows signs of corrosion, it will need to be used for parts or it will require a comprehensive restoration. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
