FOR PARTS/REPAIR - Although the date and time can be set without issue and the movement runs strong over an approximate 42 hour power reserve period, the minute and hour hands don't move. This likely indicates that the cannon pinion needs tightening. Given this and considering that the movement shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1970's Laora diver has a blackish gray satin "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows wear and dust/debris lying on its surface. The lume, which emits a faint, quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue.

While visually imperceptible in person the lume on the minute hand shows cracking under high magnification. The black bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely with the. Lume complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The crystal shows scratching and dust/debris on its underbelly.

However, the minute and hour hands do not move, likely indicating that the cannon pinion needs tightening. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling the crown out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded, screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had a solid power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

The crown unscrews and screws back in without issue and winds smoothly. Given that the minute and hour hands do not move and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm. Given that the minute and hours hands do not move and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is required.

As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
