FOR PARTS/REPAIR - The manual wind movement runs about 10 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. This vintage 1960's Jubilee, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a lovely but not perfect black dial that shows light wear under the damaged crystal. Majority of the spotting seen is on the underbelly of the crystal, not the dial. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow on only the dial after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully.
The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped STAINLESS STEEL.
" The inside of the case back is stamped "JUBILEE WATCH CO. " followed by "BRITISH CROWN COLONY, HONG KONG, STAINLESS STEEL" and "J701-C703.
The crystal needs to be replaced. The 7 jewels unadjusted Japan JUBILEE WATCH CO. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling the crown out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. This movement does not have a quickset day function. After recently winding the brassed, non-screwdown crown 50 full revolutions the movement ran about 10 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period.The crown winds buttery smooth. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any restoration/servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 15 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
