This seldom seen vintage 1960's Arten has a satin light silver "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear. The lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The black bezel, which shows wear and stiffly rotates bidirectionally, presents nicely. The midsize all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL ANTIMAGNETIC INCABLOC AUTOMATIC SWISS MADE" with "20 ATM" followed by "2004" and "5147" stamped in the center. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded, approximate 5 mm screwdown crown the movement had a healthy 41 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history (there is an undecipherable watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back) a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 32 mm excluding the crown, approximately 37 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11.5 mm. Given that the minute and hour hands tend to stop at a particular time each night and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.

Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now.
