Vintage Arnex Divers Chronograph withTropical Brown Dial, Runs FOR PARTS/REPAIR

FOR PARTS/REPAIR - Although the movement runs strong and keeps accurate time over an approximate 41 hour power reserve period none of the chronograph functions work (pushers don't engage so the start/stop/reset function does not work - sweep seconds hand and minute counter hand don't move). Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.

This seldom seen vintage Arnex broad arrow two-register chronograph, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a truly special pristine "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that has aged from an originally black color to a tropical milk chocolate brown hue. The original lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a uniform warm buttermilk patina. The black bezel shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with the appropriate amount of tension. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation.

The outer edge of the case back is stamped WATERRESISTANT TESTED 20 ATMOSPHERES INCABLOC SWISS MADE ANTIMAGNETIC ALL STAINLESS STEEL. " The inside of the case back is stamped "J.

PINGOUIN CO" followed by "SWISS MADE. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss J. PINGOUIN Co stamped Valjoux 7733 runs strong and keeps accurate time.

However, none of the chronograph functions work (pushers don't engage so the start/stop/reset function does not work - sweep seconds hand and minute counter hand don't move). After recently winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 47 full revolutions the movement kept accurate time over an approximate 41 hour power reserve period. Given that none of the chronograph functions work and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs.

Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 11 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 13 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 48 mm.

A complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now.

Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
