FOR PARTS/REPAIR - The seconds hand tends to run fast and the minute hand starts and stops. The cannon pinion likely needs tightening. Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1970's Tressa diver has a pristine satin blue "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial and the lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully.
The blue and silver world time bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "SWISS MADE WATERPROOF INCABLOC STAINLESS STEEL UNBREAKABLE MAINSPRING" with "10 ATM" stamped along the inner edge and "AUTOMATIC" stamped in the center. The 25 jewels (dial says 17 but movement is stamped 25, which was not uncommon during this era) "SWISS" and "TRESSA" stamped Felsa 4462 automatic movement with quickset date function is clean and until recently was keeping accurate time and working as it should. However, now the seconds hand runs fast and the minute hand starts and stops.
The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After winding the sharply threaded, non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had a power reserve period of approximately 37 hours.
Given that the movement does not run as it should and considering its unknown service history (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm.
This watch comes on a NOS Mediterranean blue NATO strap with matte stainless steel buckle. Given that the movement does not run as it should and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
