FOR PARTS ONLY - The ETA 2783 automatic movement does not run. The date and time can be set without issue and the replacement crown winds with tension.
This seldom seen vintage 1970's Edox Hydro-Sub has a "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in poor condition. The lume no longer glows after being exposed to bright light. The bezel, which shows wear, goes not rotate likely due to gunk/corrosion underneath. The all stainless steel case shows considerable wear, pitting and oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "10 ATM TESTED SHOCK-RESISTANT AUTOMATIC STAINLESS STEEL" with "31.056" stamped in the center.
The inside of the case back is stamped "EDOX WATCH CO LTD" followed by SWISS. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "EDOX WATCH Co" stamped ETA 2783 automatic movement with quickset date function does not run. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling out the crown to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. The non-screwdown replacement crown winds with tension. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm.
The lug to lug distance measures approximately 38 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any restoration/servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
