Vintage 1960's Helbros Diver Watch withPUW 1361 Mvmt, Runs Fast FOR PARTS/REPAIR

FOR PARTS/REPAIR - Although the PUW 1361 automatic movement runs strong it gains approximately 18 minutes by the end of its approximate 37 hour power reserve period. Additionally, after winding the crown it's necessary to gently spin the watch face down on a soft, flat surface in order to jump-start the seconds hand. Given these issues and considering that it's likely been more than 30 years since the movement was last serviced a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1960's Helbros.

Has a black "WEST GERMANY" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows difficult to see wear under the damaged crystal and the lume on both the dial and hands remains fully intact, emitting a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel shows wear and rotates a bit stiffly bidirectionally.

The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with noticeable signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped ALL STEEL FRANCE. " The inside of the case back is stamped "HELBROS WATCHES.

The crystal needs to be replaced. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions the movement gained approximately 18 minutes by the end of its approximate 37 hour power reserve period. It's necessary to gently spin the watch face down on a soft, flat surface after winding the crown in order to jump-start the seconds hand.

The non-screwdown crown winds buttery smooth. Given that the movement runs fast, that it needs a jump-start and considering that it's likely been more than 30 years since the last service (there is one visible watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back which appears to date to 1991) a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm.

Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. This watch comes on a "HONG KONG" and "STAINLESS STEEL" beads of rice bracelet that shows moderate wear and stretch. The outside of the buckle is personalized RWS. Given that the movement runs fast and needs a jump-start to get going a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
