Vintage mechanical watches do not keep exact time like its quartz counterparts, expect that watches that we list as working and keeping time unless otherwise specified run +/. 1-3 mins a day, we consider this to be acceptable for most vintage watches. Note: we do not time our watches to "seconds lost or gained" in a day, if you need something that accurate a quartz watch is more for you.If the watch in the listing says its tested then I have manually wound the watch and watched it for at least 12 hours unless otherwise stated. I do not have any sort of automatic watch winder to test automatic functions, generally unless stated I have only done a manual wind test. If it is an automatic I will generally shake the watch until it starts ticking and then watch it for an hour.
After that I will do the manual wind test as per above unless otherwise specified. Vintage watches and mechanical watches need to be services often by a certified watchmaker to keep them running well, similar to your car and oil changes. Unless specified in the listing watches are not serviced and will need to go to a watchmaker for a checkup and service to be good time keepers and continue running smoothly.
